My engine and transmission mounts are due for replacement soon and I'm leaning towards upgrading to the black series mounts from the CLK55 & 63 🤑

Just wanted to hear from any members running these BS upgrades on your W211 or C219 chassis and whether if its an improvement over the oil filled mounts?

How old are the originals? I'd stick with what was fitted at the factory. MB spent many man hours developing those mounts
Any 'harder' type mount will lead to increased vibration transmission.

I have some mild engine vibration felt in the cabin space, so it does need doing. Car has covered some 119k miles so the mount may have been previously changed at least once in its lifetime? but I cannot verify that and there isn't anything in terms of receipts in the service history book which has been kept meticulously in order by previous owners.

I have been reading into the blog by Kyle, FCP parts manager for Mercedes. Just looking for something durable and longevity. Will be installing the mounts myself, I purchased a tool to access the top bolts with a 1/2 inch drive racket.

My black series goodies have just arrived. The engine mounts were stocked in UK but the transmission mounts was shipped from Germany. I also purchased a tool from ebay which will hopefully reach the top bolts with a 1/2 drive wrench with extensions attached. Hopefully with this tool I should be able to losen the top bolts and then I can work from the bottom. Whilst there, I'm aiming to do a secondary cat delete as they need to be removed anyway due to limited access. 20220118_134506.jpg😁

The parts numbers are:

The weather was great today, so I managed to install my new bs engine mounts. One of old mounts was squashed and leaking fluid, which contributed to some mild vibration felt through the cabin on idle. You can see the drips on the paper.

To remove the mounts I had to drop the steering rack and also disconnected it from the steering column. Very limited space but I managed to sort it.

Will aim to change the transmission mount, which should be easier. 🙂20220402_161905.jpg20220402_162001.jpg20220402_162337.jpg20220402_162219.jpg

What's the differences of the BS mounts ?

I believe the main difference is the construction from oil filled to traditional rubber. In terms of profile the engine mounts appear roughly the same dimension but the bs is slightly more stouter in design. The side walls are half metal and the actual weight of the product is noticeable, I would say its a tad heavier, maybe because of the metal around the base and the sides of the mount. Bigger, heavier engines tend to go through engines mounts quickly, especially the amg models which have a lot of torque, resulting in wear. Hopefully these engine mount should give longevity over oil filled.

Will report back on the transmission mount and the final ride quality. From what I read there is a breakin period. 👍

Today I managed to install the transmission mount and it didn't take long. It has 4 bolts, 2 bolts at the bottom and 2 at the ears. The bs transmission mount is slightly over sized but otherwise roughly the same. Whilst there I managed to clean the underside too.

I can report the ride quality (in my opinion) is like stock. The cabin vibration on idle has gone too which is reassuring. Touchwood, these components should last long so hopefully won't ever have to change them again. 🙂20220403_141407.jpg20220403_141737.jpg20220403_161139.jpg20220403_161621.jpg

Nice car 👌🏻

BS transmission mount is it hollow or made out of a solid block of rubber for less vibrations?
You didn't show the side of the mount showing the rubber in your photos.

For my old C43 transmount is hollow.

Nice ride.

I doubt its hollow, most likely its solid rubber with metal supports to the side walls but that's just a guess. The original mounts on mine were definitely hollow or part hollow and filled with oil, as it leaked oil as you can see from the drips on the paper.

Sorry, I don't have any more photos but I have added a video to the transmission mount. Their probably used in Mayback too. Someone here also mentioned it which I didn't know.

Thanks 🙂

Watched the YT video.
BS mount is definately made more solid than the other mount.

The new mount will definately be a solid update for your SuperCharged AMG. :thumb:

A quick internet search will find all sorts of solid or very hard engine mounts available for MB cars , quite how they 'transform' the feel of the car is another matter . Probably a bit like 'upgraded' (solid) polybushes in the suspended/suspension parts of any car . Some will swear blind that they are a good performance upgrade , others will disagree.

Whatever force that would normally be damped out by an oil filled mount has to go somewhere....

stiffer bushings could result in more squeek, noise and vibrations.
stiffer cars could cause components to breakdown from excessive vibrations
