Blow Out????? & help

Driving last evening, slow speed and had a rear wheel blow out, big hole in the tyre and the tyre left the rim on the inside edge. So, all I needed to do was change the wheel and put the spare on. I could not release the circular disc covering the jack point, snapped a key, chewed up the plastic and no joy. What was I doing wrong? Called the RAC and they did the change for me using a trolly jack.

At the risk of stating the obvious, does it not tell you in the drivers handbook? OR is it the HAYNES MANUAL syndrome- where they often tell you what to do but dont actually tell how to do it!!!

you put the screwdriver in the toolkit into the hole , prise the inner section out and the whole lot should come. The inner section should stay attached in the process.

Best jacking points ive seen on a car yet ..
