Blown head gasket on 1984 G wagon 230GE

Why you diagnosed head gasket failure has not been specified and if raw water froze in the block and/or head any symptoms of head gasket failure could be due to that.
I think you need to more thoroughly diagnose whatever problem you have before ripping this thing apart.

Sorry my bad I miss read the question. Yes after the gasket change I used raw water and yes I now remember it icing up over the winter

OUCH, so could be also the jackets are foobarred, I asked similar in post 8
