Blue smoke...

When started first thing my car belches blue smoke.

It smells like diesel smoke not engine.

The glow plug light goes out as expected, but once the car has started it will come on again and stay on on for a minute or so.

The car is performing as expected, and no more smoke comes out for the rest of the day.

Any suggestions?

I have similar, without the smoke, presume at least 1 glowplug if not the relay.

Common wisdom is to replace all plugs as if 1 gone the others are likely to follow.

I have had the same issue on a previous car and, unsurprisingly, becomes more serious in colder weather - to the point of not starting one December in North Yorkshire/

Mine too, I also get a whiff of diesel smoke smell when she starts, though this may be normal. Starting is straight away, though even in this cold weather, so I'm minded to ignore the light for now and 'let it develop' as they say.
