My E55 was manufactured in late 2004 and is a 2005 model. It has a phone prep and a cradle that takes a Nokia 6230.The cradle does not have a Mercedes Star or a button that turns on the bluetooth. The comand system has Bluetooth though. When the phone is in the cradle the phone works instantly through the comand system and instrument display,it does not ask for any codes to be entered. When I have tried to connect the phone via the phones Bluetooth and the comand, the comand finds the phone, and others I have tried, the phone finds a Uhi number. However, when you connect them the comand says connected for a few seconds and the says not connected.
Does this mean that no phone will work via Bluetooth? and the only phone I will be able to use is the Nokia 6230, but only when it is in the cradle?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The bluetooth on Comand is pretty useless.

You need either a MB Bluetooth adaptor which replaces the cradle or a Viseoo which sits in the existing cradle and pretends to be a phone. Do you know if your car has the facelift?

Thanks for your response.

Unless I'm mistaken I thought the facelift changes were on 2006 cars only? My car is a 2005 model. I don't know if there was a facelift on the W211 model between its launch 2002 and 2005?

Your car would be a pre-facelift model but new enough to have UHI which is important here. A car with the UHI phone kit can have different BT hands free adapters. ViseeO being one, MB HF profile BT adapter another one, also the MB BT SAP profile adapter in different forms.

Does this mean that in its current format the comand bluetooth will not connect to a mobile phone using bluetooth?
What I find interesting though, is that when I try to pair a phone and the comand they have no trouble finding each other and they do momentarily connect. However, a few seconds later the comand says not connected.Could it be that I am putting the wrong codes in, because if I should be entering the 16 digit code some people refer to, I don't even know what this is or how to access it through the comand?

All help appreciated.

THe bluetooth in COMAND is very rudimentary and only for BT ear-pieces. I'm not sure anyone has ever got it working.

You need a bluetooth module as Diesel Benz suggests. Have a look here
