Hi All,

Right, I got me a BT SAP and finally got my contacts off the sim of my N95 onto the car.

Sweet so far.

Car can tell me who I am about to call, but...

If I receive a call from a contact, only the number is displayed on my Audio 20 and not the contact name.

Is this normal or am I missing a trick?

If your numbers are stored in International format (+44 20 12345678) in the contact list only the number shows up. If you store them in country format (020 12345678) the names show up.

Perversely names associated with numbers from abroad show up using the international format... until you go to that country...

Dunno if the BT SAP cradle passes through your phone's ringtone to the car like the BT setup in the W204 does, but if so then if you set your N95 to announce the caller name when it rings you'll at least get an audible indication of the caller name if not a visual one. Better than nothing...

BT SAP takes the authority to access the network from the your SIM card (hence SIM Access Profile) and thereafter the car's phone handles all calls, not your mobile. So no chance to use this workaround.

Which I would have realised had I thought more about how it worked before I'd typed my post (there's a great "slaps forehead" emoticon on another forum I frequent that would be particularly apposite at this moment)

Cheers Folks,

Pleasing to hear that I haven't messed up the set-up :D

I think I'll set my phone to announce the caller - the phone voice sounds weird but it works!

Except that won't work with SAP as I pointed out earlier. The only thing that works is changing the numbers in your contact list to UK format and reloading them into COMAND.

Grrrr, being an engineer makes you skim stuff unless you are in real trouble

Right, I just checked my SIM directory and have edited the ones that are prefixed "+44"

I will test when I get into the car!

Cheers

Gary
