Hi, can anyone help me please.
I have a new phone which I need to pair with my car. I have a Acer Liquid Gallant E350, which has the Sim Access Protocol (SAP), which is on, as is Bluetooth. The car is a 2005 CLK 220 with an Audio 20 unit. I have followed the instructions up to and including taking the pass code. Then pressed hang up call, where the phone should ask for the pass code, however nothing happens, the dial shows just "Bluetooth.
The unit worked with my last phone (nokia E63) without any problems. Am I doing anything wrong? or is there anything else I should be doing? Many thanks in advance for any advice. :dk:

I think you may be missing some of the pairing code because the Audio-20 can't display enough digits.

From memory there should be 16 digits (8 sets of 2 digits) - are you seeing all of them ?

Thanks for your input. :thumb:
I have done this. It is my understanding that when the hung up button is pressed the phone name should show in the display and the handset should ask for the passcode. However this does not happen.:dk:. The BT unit works with a SIM inserted. Still at a loss:crazy:

After the 16 digit code is shown and you have written it down, when you press the hangup the phone name is shown in the *instrument cluster* display. You then press the pickup button and enter the code into the phone

Thanks for your time it is appreciated. This is were it all goes wrong. The name of the phone is not shown in the instrument cluster, just the word "Bluetooth" after I press the hangup on the wheel. The only way I can show the name of the phone is via the "search button". If I press the pickup button the unit goes into dialing out and notes are played. Nothing is on the handset/phone. I can see the MBTelephone as a BT item on my phone.

Strange - I assume you don't have a SIM in the SAP device when doing this?

I know having a SIM in there disables the bluetooth side, but I've never tried that so I don't know if it goes into a funny semi-active mode.

It sounds like the SAP cradle may not have found your phone when searching - is there something you need to do on android to enable the RSAP protocol on it (you used to have to do it specifically on Nokia phones)

You could find someone else with a MB and COMAND and try pairing it on that ?

It may of course be that the SAP V2 just wont work with that phone and thats why it won't find it :-(

Richard

Yes, your correct Richard no SIM while pairing. Both see each other and RSAP is switched on, on the phone. It appears that the BT SAP V2 does not send a signal to the Phone. Bought the phone as it had the SAP protocol :dk:. Tried a Sony Xperia U and found this did not have SAP so it went back.
