Having just ordered a new ML I want to work out my options for phones. I currently have a SonyErricson K800i and I want to order the bluetooth bit for the integrated car kit. The problem is everyone keeps saying it needs to be SAP compatible which Sony/Ericsson say it isn't but it will definately work in a merc bluetooth setup.
Does anyone know if this is the case or if I buy the bluetooth cradle am I going to waste my money:confused:

No need to start a new thread. No SAP no Bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply. Normally I would take your word as gospel but here's the problem. The Sony Ericsson technician I spoke to reckons they have tested it and it does work as it emulates the SAP system:confused:
I spoke to the dealer and they are happy for me to try it and if it works all well and good and if not then I'll have to look at getting another phone and cradle or are they going to bring a cradle out for my phone soon.

Err, if it emulates SAP then why do they say it doesn't support SAP?

Classic case for a note saying "must work in Mercedes via SAP/Bluetooth module or full refund to be supplied".

Before Merc published the list of supported pones/firmware levels, there were masses of posts where the punter was sent backwards and forwards between Merc and the phone supplier with each baming the other for glitches and foibles in the support interface.

I have a W800i a K750i and both do not work with my ML bluetooth as Miro said no SAP no bluetooth.

However you can take out your sim card from the phone and put it into the Bluetooth module and it will work then.

I have used a Nokia 6230i and now a 6233 both work fine.

Mark.

Oh by the way, your gonna love the new ML its great (but then I am biased) hehe

I didn't know the sim could go directly into the module, could do that then I suppose.
I'm looking forward to getting the ML as soon as the useless DVLA sort themselves out:mad: Idiots

Depending on your provider, the best answer might be a dual-SIM contract. Voda and Orange do this (£7 ish a month) but O2 don't (yet).

You can then leave one in the car all the time.

seems like a good idea at the time. you end up not being bothered with this and just leaving it on the handset in the car. you miss calls etc etc.

Also , on vodafone , you need to give up all the fancy features like confrence calling etc. And No GPRS is avalible on multi sim. Plus no end of technical issues. I went back to a normal tarriff.

TO be honest with you , buy a 6230i and be done with it. Its a cracking phone.:D

If you're going to put a SIM in the car It would be much cheaper to buy a 6310i cradle and an old 6310i and leave it in the car (rather than just buying the bluetooth "cradle") .. I'm not really sure why the bluetooth module has a sim card , its not like its an easy slot that you can t ake the card in and out of really easily ..

Have you seen the price of 6310i phones ?

They have the nickname of "Mercedes phone" because of the legacy car kits. They are priced accordingly.

A top condition 6310i which hasn't been repaired will cost me more than the Bluetooth kit.

Good point (since I swopped an used 6310i for a new 6230i with someone recently since they needed it for there mecedes !)

So, instead, put a 6210 phone in instead ;-)

Sorry I forgot to mention something quite important.

The phone must be 3G. Kinda cuts the options down.:o
