Bluewater - Sat 22nd Sept

I see how it enhances the asthetic of the car, but its illegal and like dark front tints, illegally spaced regi plates, sooner or later the law will catch up with him. Secretly, I am quite chuft he is defying the system, but I am only 7 years away from my teens.

Plus he needs to get that allignement checked. Over half his rear wheels aren't in contact with the road, defeats the object of wide wheels

Nice cars btw.:)

As motor bikes are exempt from having front mounted plates (yes for safety reasons rather than aesthetics) there can't be that significant impact on ANPR / speed camera hits. So why can't cars be exempted?

1.3 million motorbikes in the UK, 30 Million cars. The cars on average do 10 times the mileage of the motorbikes and motorbikes are only exempt on safety reasons.

If the number plate spoils the aesthetics of the car, why not remove the back one too?

Ah, yes, one might get Plod following so can see it more easily and have time to deal with it, whereas on the front they only have a second or two.

A number of cars have the front number plates missing and most are sheds of vehicles.

This is no wind up, the idea is to avoid capture in a similar fashion to motorbike riders.

My money says that if caught the driver will say it must have fallen off.

What is the ratio of front facing cameras to the rear capture variety?

"It fell off defence" is likely to fall on deaf ears, bit like RFL that slips down the back of the dash!

Stop being silly.

How the Hell are you allowed to drive at age six?

I sit on a cushion, helps me see inbetween the wheel and speedo. Not all of us are big enough to sit on the car seat and see over the wheel, thats for giants:p:p

No traces of sticky pads on the bumpers or screw holes though. Producer and 90 squid when rumbled. Pocket money to these boys Ill be bound.

The car does look good and the real reason
Nearly all are front facing now deliberately to catch a photo of the driver AND numberplate.

Only GATSO are rear facing.

SPECS zones, better asthetics (for car shows etc) and truvelo plus camera vans.

just a shame you can't poke fun at things with which or in which you have an involvement.

Having recently been the victim of a hit and run and the reporting witness reading the car FRONT numberplate, I think I have a significant interest in cars having their MANDATORY front number plates fitted.

I'd be interested to hear anyone's reasonable justification for not having one.

I thought a few car models had exemption, such as the Enzo.

But I am of the opinion that the law is the law, even if it is a a$$.

I don't think any car is exempt, but would like to hear your reasoning on the law being incorrect.

Taking a license plate off of the front of a Porsche to make it more aesthetically pleasing is a bit like taking a piece of sweet corn out of dog shyte for the same reason; it's still ugly, doesn't matter what you do.

Would a three wheel electric motorcycle such as the VentureOne need one and in comparison does the Morgan 3 wheel need one?
Not sure I understand the difference on them in terms of safety.

Unless you're Her Majesty, it's the law.

I'm sure there is at least one country where the front plate is not required. I forget where mind.

Gents

I went to two of these. 1st one I drove round in circles for an hour then went home. 2nd one Rashman sent me a map and I still drove round in circles for an hour until I spotted some Mercs by chance on my way home. IIRC people also the said they struggled to find the place.

I detect a common theme here. Would it not be possible to say meet in the M&S carpark ground level as you drive in? Or something simple like that?

LOL, I shouldn't laugh but I did exactly the same thing when I attempted to come to a meet in September last year...

p.s The cars look great without them, but that's beside the point. :thumb:

As has already been covered, there are far fewer motorcycles and they do much less mileage. They are only exempt as a result of safety for pedestrians from the days when motorcycles had longitudal metal front plates.

The Morgan 3 wheeler has to have them fitted.

Has anyone got a reasonable reason why a car shouldn't be displaying a front numberplate as required by law?

When there isn't anywhere to mount it to present it in a vertical or near vertical position.

Oh and I think it's Belgium that 'advises' the fitting of front plates but doesn't require it.

I have one, if all vehicles only needed a rear plate then the councils/police would change there current policy that allows motorcyclists to drive at any speed without concern of a speeding offence caught by average speed cameras.

Still don't understand why the Venture One is any safer than a Morgan 3 wheeler.

Councils don't mandate upholding speed limits, it's the law of the land.

So are you saying that because some motorcyclist abuse not having front numberplates, so you lot should be able to as well.

Err...doesn't that just echo the reason I said why "you" are deleting front numberplates...to break the law with impunity...
