Bmw 635

80s chic and cool .. looks immaculate too :)

That does look mint indeed.

Great car I used to have a c reg 635 csi which was a fantastic car, that ones a lot of money though not sure I could cough up £15k for it though !!!

Is that a credit crunch special price lol!? Nice motor but i would not take it over an M3 or an M5 of the same money.....

If you are going to buy an old 6 Series then Munich Legends is undoubtedly the place to go. However, for that kind of money, I'd want an M635 with the M1 derived 24 valve engine. I'd also want one that wasn't wearing it's original metric rims. Most owners have changed them by now as Michelin TRX tyres aren't exactly cutting edge technology anymore & the prices can be eye watering.

I love the old 6 series

Not having the wheels changed is all part of keeping it in its orig form, a big plus for me.

I personally just wouldn't want to drive around on 1975 tyre technology. By all means keep a set of TRX rims, but fit a set of imperial BMW spoked alloys of the period for everyday use.

I'm with MPG on that one. At over £200 a corner for modestly sized TRX's, I'd want normal wheels and rubber for everyday if I was going to be using the car properly.

I used to have a 1996 840Ci in Orient blue with light silver grey leather & bolted cross spoke alloys. It's one of the few cars I've ever regretted selling.

I spent ages and a small fortune getting bolted alloys for mine. But they transformed the look of the car.(Oxford with Black leather)

I do remember the rear alloys getting dirt under the lacquer within a few weeks of me getting the car. To be fair to BMW, they took one look & ordered a new set of rims for me. That was excellent service in my book. I always preferred the look of the x-spokes to the standard rotoblades the Sport's rode on - bit of a pig to keep clean, but a small price to pay for the stance they gave the car.

I used to have a M635 (not the M6 though) and going back 18 years TRX tyres were £180 each!, I still remember the pain of forking out for a a new pair for the front. No idea what they would be now

There was also a Motorsport version of the Highline iirc, which was the 'last run out verion' of the 635CSI, with the Highline being the first one. These were the same as the Highline, with full shadowline (dechrome), extended leather on dash etc etc, but also had a an LSD & came in Macao Blue, Nogaro silver, Missano red, black rooflining & lotus white Leather. (There may have been other colours also) ...

Looks great, but for 23,000 miles the carpet on the drivers side tunnel looks rather bald.
Perhaps the moths have got to it.

An M635 is an M6. It was called M6 in the USA, and M635 elsewhere. If your car had a dogleg gearbox, then it was an M6/M635. If it didn't then it wasn't an M of any kind.

Am I alone in preferring the "pre-Highline" 6 Series ?? Take a look at the gorgeous wrapround chrome bumpers on the pre-Highline models & then the strange plastic box things that the Highline replaced them with. I just think the older car looked more graceful....
