Koolvin,

When Gunther von Hagens did the Post Mortem live on Channel 4, I didn't get to see the programme. Next day I was stuck in the car on the M6 trying to get to Birmingham, and heard a phone-in on the topic on 5 Live.

I've never heard such a load of bollocks from the 'anti' brigade in my life! Given that all those whose bodies/body parts are exhibited gave consent, including the guy who was the subject of the autopsy, what's the problem?

We have Vets doing ops on animals on TV all the ****ing time, (too much of the time IMO) so why not learn a bit about the human body?

You are too young to remember 'Your Life in Their Hands', a brilliant programme in the 60's, which showed in detail, operations being conducted by top surgeons.

If I get the chance, I'll be going to Body Worlds.

Glad you enjoyed it. :) :)

You'd better hurry! they have been kicked out of the UK and the last day of opening is 9th Feb 2003.

I didn't really enjoy it that much but it was definetly fascinating, some things were quite disturbing even! My GF however wanted to stay longer!

oh BTW Brick Lane is a f'in dump. Make sure you go during the day (as in daylight hours) looks quite dodgy at nightfall.

The show was more about the hype and the audience reaction than about the actual autopsy. I watched the show and it was pretty good.

You're *so* right, if everyone involved has given it their support then why should the "anti" people have any say, it has absolutely nothing to do with them - they need to get new hobbies or something! This kinda reminds me of the old fox hunting chestnut, what would a bunch of bored "townies" know about life in the countryside? The foxes are going to die anyway, why not get on with something more important and quit worrying about it? *sigh*

About 7yrs ago channel 4 showed a documentry about a famous autopsy specialist in the USA.

It showed the complete autopsy from start to finish in true Ch4 fashion!!

The body was that of a 17yrs druggie who had been born addicted to herion and continued using it till his death.

By the time the show finished the body resembled the remains of a Sunday roast chichen, they even cut his leg off below the knee and passed it through a band saw  .

Gory as it was it was a very good program, but because Ch4 kept quiet about it hardly anyone knew it was on so no fuss.

Time for a repeat I say :)
