Hi everyone, could someone advise me what to do next

My daughter just got she self a 05 Reg 206cc from main dealer Harriett's:mad:

when she first got it i said i would give it a good wash and polish, when i come to wash it with my brush i found that the brush made a scrapping sound noise so i then had a feel of the paint work and it seemed to be covered with over spray:mad:  so i went all around the car and it was covered from top to bottom, including all the glass. I also found there was a scratch across the passenger door, i then took the car back to them and told them that this car should never have left the show room in this condition.

They said they don't know how this has happened and would sort out the scratch and buff all the paint work to remove the over spray. They said that they would need the car for 2 days. I said that would be no problem just sort it out.

Well 5 hour after dropping the car off for them they called me and said the car had been done and ready for pickup  2 day/then 5 hours.

Off i go to pick up the car and to my horror:eek: all i could see is the swirl marks that they had done with the buffing wheel, by this time smoke was streaming out of my ears i told them if they think i was taking the car in that condition they would have to think again. So they again said that they would do all the car again and it would take 2 days.

So what would you do if the car was not to your satisfaction on collection, advice please.

Thanks Dave.

if you are not happy with the results, just reject the car and demand a refund, the earlier you do it ,the better

The problem is Dave is why was the car sprayed all over, I know that these days a scratch panel can mean doing a whole side, and that you do not throw a car away because of that.

Over spray does sound like a poor job done , for with modern masking materials there is no excuse.

To look for repair work and how well its been done, bend down and eye the side of the car from rear lamp height and any ripples will show along the lenght of the car,, dont try if wet or in the rain. One can also feel with the hand any different texture in the paint

Swirls are easy to remove and should not really be a problem at all. IMO car will be fine but just make sure that the resprayed panel (s) match and blend.

Thanks all,

Been in touch with them again today and told them i want a full machine buff and polish, they have agreed to do this and say the car will be ready by Wednesday.

Malcolm,
the over spray was on the car the first day she pick it up when buying it:confused: Not when they did the panel, this is way i don.t understand why they let it out of the showroom in that condition.

Cheers Dave.

No one can answer that, certainly not top workmanship

Update

Hi everyone, update to my daughters car, i called to see it today and i must say that they have done a fantastic job on the paint work, the paint looks so deep and glossy now, it looks now like it should have the day she purchased it.

I'm One happy Chappy

Happy motoring, and thanks for your replies :bannana:
