While on a business trip to the Czech Republic recently, our hosts took us to see the Kostice Ossuary Beinhaus at Kutna Hora, commonly known as the "Bone Church". I thought I'd share a couple of pictures (apologies for the quality - they're phone pics) of this quite extraordinary place where the bones of around 40,000 souls were arranged by a Czech wood-carver, František Rint, in the 1870's.

The main concentration of bones is in four of these domes:

The chandelier at the centre of this picture contains at least one example of each of the bones in the human body:
There's even the Coat of Arms of the Schwarzenberg noble family:
And finally, Mr Rint indulged himself a little:
It was about -16c when we visited so we didn't hang around too long!
