Bonnet star

Hi I have a 58reg c class sport 220
I wanted to replace the round emblem on the bonnet with a spring loaded star. Bought the star from a merc garage, removed the round emblem from the bonnet (broke the fixing whole removing) but when I put in the star the circular base area is smaller than the indent area in the bonnet so doesn't fit properly.

Is the indent on the sport bonnet different then the other models meaning the star won't fit?

The star I ordered did say it was for a class the same age as mine?

Hi. I'd go back to the garage and innocently ask them to fit it. It will take them a minute and they shouldn't charge - then if it doesn't fit they can exchange it for one that does...

Some cars have different size bases to the bonnet star as well as styling.

Yep, take it back to where you purchased it from, (with the receipt on you) and ask them to fit it.

Just following up on this. Any luck with fitting the star?
Same situation, wanted to replace the flat star with the upright star on my c class sport, but the flat star is much bigger.

I was under the impression all the upright stars were the set size.
