bonnet stars interchangable

I was looking at a W202 yesterday, which has a flat emblem rather than a star - would the star off my W201 fit?

A Mercedes W201 doesn't have a bonnet star. It has a grille star which is not the same thing it all.

as in a small sticking up star mounted on top of the grill rather than the chavvy "SEC look"

Very sure.

As your link shows it has a star mounted in the top of the grille not on the bonnet.

I would say that's the radiator surround...the grill being the bit below...but I know what you mean now...if a little pedantic.

Either way W201 and W202 stars are different parts.

Thanks chaps, you are of course correct, it does fit on top of the chrome grill on a W201. The w202 i looked at had an AMG roundel in place of the star - If it was a stright swap I would done it, but tbh I can probably live without it - at least there isnt a hole!
