Hi,

I have a c200 (1998 model) and there was an almightly thud from the boot area. After investigation found that the sping that opens the boot had fractured and sheared the metal plate that it attaches to on the boot. Has anyone had the same problem and how much does it cost to repair?

Thanks

hi

if its the big spring on the hinge then its easily repaired by your local garage they can weld it back on, you should only get charged £20 cash.

My has done this as well. Fixed by stretching to next hole!

It's the metal breaking off that has the hole in it that we have the problem with!

Yes thats what mine did, when I say the next hole maybe next available gap. I'll have a look in order to remember what I did. My boot now opens with a force that alarms passers by!
