W203 Saloon/Sedan.

Boot open light remains on - gives alarm - even though closed.
My assumption is that the problem is a faulty micro switch.
I have read through many forums but cannot determine where the switch is.
Is it in the latch/lock or is it in the lock/handle?

Wherever it is can it be repaired or must I replace a unit?

Sorry about the naming (UK)!
Thanks in anticipation

Does the boot LIGHT BULB go out when the boot is shut?

What do you mean by - gives alarm –is the alarm going off when you shut the boot or is it going off when you lock the car?

Hi Dec.
The "boot open" red light in the door is always on.
When moving off a warning appears which has to be cancelled - annoys Mrs.
Just put daughter in the boot who says the interior light stayed on after boot closed.
Hope this helps
John

Sorry don’t know where it is on your car, it must be defective or there is a short / broken wire causing the light to stay on.
Maybe removing the boot bulb, as a temporary solution, would work? Others may know more.

Tried that temporary fix - doesn't work for me - many thanks anyway.

Yes - I've seen this before - it suggests 2 switches in the boot handle - I suspect it's in the latch.
Can anyone confirm that the switch which controls the "boot open" indication is in the latch? If so is there a known repair.
Thanks again for the info Dec.
John
