My Haynes Manual is locked in boot ! Any ideas much appreciated.

To answer my own question..............PERSISTANCE.....I finally got the key right into the Boot lock..............after much WD40, penetrating oil & graphite..... and after constant jiggling of key (around 20 mins.) THE LOCK TURNED AND OPENED.

Is your battery fully charged - does everything work with a fully charged battery?
is there dampness in or around the fusebox ecu area
or doom and gloom - mice nibbling cables

All too common on cars with a remote boot release is the manual lock mechanism seizing up because it is never used. I have a similar problem on the CLK 'vert, in that the handle sticks and does not return to its normal position. I make a point now of almost always opening the boot manually, and physically return the handle to its correct 'at rest' position. I'll get round to lubricating it and freeing it up one day...
