Bootlip spoiler stolen!

Hi everyone,

I've had my C Saloon AMG Sport Plus for 6 months, went to it last week to find the boot lip spoiler has been prised off. I've contacted my dealer to get it replaced, but has anyone got any idea how common this is? A guy at the dealership said "this happens all the time". Not altogether surprising since its secured with double sided foam tape.

Glad to hear the dealer will be replacing it for you.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing does seem quite common - I recall a couple of recent threads about this happening on other C-Classes

They're sorting it in exchange for a load of cash from me, not out of the goodness of their hearts unfortunately

Ahh, I'm a little concerned that they get stolen for resale, rather than for someone to not it onto their car. I don't want to replace it and have it nicked again. If that happens I'll be getting a new one again with some gps tracker embedded in it at great cost, and then perhaps the police will be able to help.

Yeah, I figured as much, I just meant that it's good that your getting assistance sorting a new one. They'll surely rob you in the process

And yes, I suspect they are being nicked by people who will then off-load them to other people who can sell them.

I'd like to think that there aren't C-Class drivers out there who are nicking them for themselves!

And yes, I hear your dilemma. Do you replace it only to have it nicked again?!

Not even that long ago another forum member had his pinched, probably for sale on flee bay now!!

Etch your reg in the underside of the replacement, and if a toe rag nicks it you may get it back if the police ever catch them

It's a sad state of affairs when you can't even have a spoiler on your car without it getting nicked!

Before you get the next one on I would get one of them special pens which only reflects what you wrote with a UV light, although the odds of the spoiler been found would still be very slim I would say.

It's not a new concept though.

I had a spoiler nicked of my XR3i in the late 90s.

+1 - or use Sikaflex,that way you'll be able to track them by the finger nails they leave behind!
