>>According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who
>>were
>>
>>kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have
>>survived,
>>
>>because

>>our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint

>>
>>
>>
>>We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors

>>bikes, we
>>
>>wore no
>>
>>helmets, just flip-flops and fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our
>>wheels.
>>
>>
>>
>>As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags
>>and
>>
>>riding in the passenger seat was a treat. We drank water from the
>>garden
>>
>>hose and
>>
>>not from a bottle and it tasted the same.
>>
>>
>>
>>We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with
>>sugar
>>
>>in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside
>>
>>playing.We
>>
>>shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and
>>no-one
>>
>>actually died from this.
>>
>>
>>
>>We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went

>>
>>speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After
>>
>>running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the
>>
>>problem.
>>
>>
>>
>>We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long

>>
>>
>>
>>We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all.

>>We had friends - we went outside and found them. We played

>>
>>
>>
>>We played knock-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the

>>
>>

DOH! By one year, I fall into the "statistically dead" :p

Nice tho! One must wonder, I STILL drink water from the garden hose when I'm outside and I'm watering the garden...

your totaly right! i remember all those things from better days, is being nearly 27 old these days? i grew up up in the 80's surrounded in a close family by 70's culture and i do know who Duran Duran and eurythmics are :) unlike some of the youth that work in my building that dont even realise that the hits of today are simply samples of the past greats ressurected*reminisant pause* anyway were not getting old just more experienced in life ;)

good post Shaun, ave 2 nana's one for the post and one for the for making me remember better times :D

All true. BUT, which is the generation that started suing for everything? Which is the generation that brought in all the new rules?

It's not the post '86 kids that did it to us - it's us that have done it to them!

Now that is a bit of irony for you.

Once again I believe this has been posted before. 2 or 3 times now :).

Probably right, I have read it several times on other forums and ask the same question, in thoses wonderful times, how many more kids would have survived with modern rules and regs, I know 50% of my school class may have, out of 23 in my class only 11 survive today, makes great reunions
