In need of desperate help...
CLK 270 CDI - trying to fit an alpine cd/radio/Bluetooth aftermarket system...
Going great until I discovered a yellow fibre optic cable terminating in two small lights (red&white)...

Robbing git in local audio shop explained they are from the Bose amp and not compatible with any system except for expensive rewire !!!

There must be CLK's with Bose fibre optic systems using aftermarket radios...

Is it that difficult ?..

Thanks for any advice..

In cars with digital BOSE you need to either rewire the speakers to run off the headunit or change the amp to an aftermarket one. You will most likely have to change the speakers to due the low impedance of the BOSE speakers.

He's probably not a robbing git, and he's told you the truth.

You have to replace the amp or replace the speakers and wire to the head unit. Not a huge range of amps that will drive the strange impedance BOSE speakers, and the Alpine head unit won't.

BOSE Amp is somewhere strange too, so the existing wiring to the doors goes all the wrong places. At least your front and rear speakers are all in the front door :)

Simon,

Thanks for the link.... Still a bit concerned.... This link refers to a shop in Latvia?...but you happy with him ?

Looked on the pictures, still can't see a slot for the fibre optic cable ...

Richard, do u work for Comand? .... Would much rather buy from within the UK....had rough experience buying eBay stuff from abroad.

The Comand 2.0 is a really old and outdated system. If you havent used one see if you know anyone with one to try it out before you buy.

IMO your better off just getting the speakers changed and wiring them off the headunit or an amp. Richard says your front and rear speakers are in the front door so wont be too much hassle as the cable runs are short. Sell the old BOSE bits on ebay to recoup some of the cost.

Yes, if you send a message to Alfie via Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk he'll help you - although we find it hard to get COMAND 2.0 units, i'm sure he'll suggest other things that will work for you

Richard
