Bouncing door lock, spring okay

As the title says really.
My n/s door lock started bouncing yesterday and having just removed the actuator the spring is fine. It worked when I tested it after dismantling but after I put it back in the car it has started again.
Should I change the spring as a matter of course or is there something more sinister at work?

Rubber cover in the foot of the lock pin wire has been causing that (wire is sticking on the hole and draws rubber to wrinkle), or insulation foam does the same.

The problem happened after I replaced my cloth interior with a nice leather one.
I have just been out and with careful re-positioning of the offending door card it now works.
