Boxster S driving on the M6 toll road, accelerated very fast in oustside lane to overtake me. I'm not interested in racing this guy, no competition - why do Boxster drivers think they drive the fastest car in the world?

He slows up along side to get a look at me motor, which means I'm now boxed in, as I accelerate, he does too. So I have to floor it to get out of there. He's left looking very embaressed, as he's left behind me.

I've also noticed TT drivers think they own the other fastest car on the road. My missus has a little 1.8 version, but the young lads in their 3.2 version think they are driving an awesome machine

Makes me laugh though - I love my car. :bannana:

V8 AMGs are the business - people who try to rac ethem are just insecure and feel inferior and I agree that Boxters and Audi TTs rekon they own the roads...

CL65 AMG is king of the roads - not only has it got super car performace to beat just about everything/anything on the road but it comes fully loaded too with all the toys an dlloks the business. I will never forget my experience having a ride as a passenger in Matt's one and was amased at how fast it was and it is a big car too... who needs a Ferrari when u can get a CL65 AMG and seat four passenegrs comfortatbly and use it as an everyday car... I wish that I could afford a CL65 AMG (may be one day if I'm lucky...)

As the owner of a Boxster S, ... I think the guy was mad to try it on with a CLK 55 AMG in a straight line. They are not the fastest cars in a straight line, as many a track day has showed me.

However, when it comes to the twisties, I think I would rather be in the Porsche.

No offence toanmyone but Boxster is just an entry level model and alot of owners that I have seen think they are so "superior" when in fact it is the Carrera Turbos that do the business and the Boxster is a cheap entry model to Porche ownership... Audi TT is a joke - suits women very nicely though...

whilst the above has some truth, and i very rarely disagree with the Flash man, I do have to say that the boxster is a near £40k entry model...which more than puts it on par with some of the more serious MB models!

A 208 CLK55 was avbout 60k when new. I would like to see it compete with a cayman on the track or even a boxster....

agree with the tt bit tho! :D

My Wife does have a TT, but she isn't a hairdresser - she failed the IQ test. Please don't tell her i said that - LOL.

Have to agree about the twisty bends in the Porsche, although when it comes to comfort the TT hugs those bends like nobodies business. Mind you, the GT2 I drove was awesome, but the CLK beat it hands down for practicality and performance. I might be in a minority but I can honestly say the CLK55 was far better than the GT2. Not sure about a Turbo or a C4, a bit out of my price range, so didn't even look :( . As for the C2S - rubbish. ;)

It's an entry model if you mean it's the cheapest in the range, but it's not an entry model in the way the 914 and 924 were in their day (i.e. VW-based) .

The Boxster does share a lot with the 911 (flat 6 cylinder just a bit down on capacity and power to fit the marketing profiles, suspension, gearbox, windscreens, front wings, etc.) :)

The sad thing is that it's always the VW bits that brake! Water pumps and other bits they sourced from Audi

I wouldnt buy a boxer, too girly for my liking.. 911 turbo.. now thats an amg beater

They're definitely quick, but I'm assuming the resident CL65 AMG would whup it's ass; at least in a drag race. Maybe the man himself can confirm or deny this..?

Had to love that regular 997 Carrera S on last night's top gear. Despite it's vast disadvantage in power terms to the BMW M6, it covered the same distance (in the wet, and without the traction gadgetry of the M6...plus all the disadvantages that a rear-engined, RWD car inherently possesses...) a good five seconds quicker. And they're built like little tanks, too... :D

Gonna lease me one of those next year, much to the disgust of my colleagues, who think they're too ostentatious and vulgar. On a 3yr, 15k PA deal, it genuinely isn't as expensive as you'd imagine

like how much? and is this for the S?

£922 on a 3 plus 33, non-maintenance, 15k PA deal. For the 355BHP S, although I'm waiting for clarification on the precise spec. This is through a German-based firm who a friend of mine sourced a BMW 745 from, and they seem pretty good.
