Finally got the brakes finished to my satisfaction !
Fitted them last year and was never really happy with them , they worked ok but did not inspire confidence . Yesterday the pads I had made up by Carbotech Europe arrived , in xp08 friction material and the difference between them and the standard brabus pads is day and night . The stopping power is beyond belief , instant bite , great modulation and very quite .
Would highly recommend over any brake pads I've tried ( yellow stuff , red stuff , standard amg pads) they have transformed the brabus brakes !
Cost comparison brabus wanted around £1100 plus vat and carbotech charged me £500 including vat and delivery .
Will post pics of the new set up later :)

Good to hear brakes are sorted Marc, hope your well, and looking forward to seeing your car and all the bespoke mods you are doing, they all sound great.

Watch your rear when braking hard :D

Good point ! Don't want to spend the weekend pulling smart cars out of my exhaust pipe :)

Ricky

Will hopefully catch up with you guys this year ..... My heart condition is pretty stable again , so may have a good summer this year rather than in bed at the heart unit .

Today I had a full suspension set up and a specialist and it was miles out , had toe out on the front , had it all put back in range , and all the rear camber and toe in adjusted . Going for a blast down the m1 tonight to see if it drives any better . I have also put some pirreli 265/30/20 on the front today and so far they feel great , much more predictable on sweeping corners and a lot more controllable . I have also got my brabus wheels on after a refurb and had a 3 inch wide rooled tensile aluminium band welded into the inside of the wheels as I'm fed up with cracking rims . I think it will now snap the wheel nuts before the wheels crack !!!!
Happy days .... :)

A quick picture of the powder coated and strengthened wheels . Had the done in silver grey , I thought they looked to bling in chrome / diamond cut .

cool, what will something like that set me back if i decide to put 20's??

I'm not sure what he would charge , he charged me £75 a wheel including strip and powder coating at mates rates . Tbh I should have given up with these wheels but may have at last found away to have 20" wheels and not have to worry about pot holes .
My new wheels should be on soon .......

I have the same brabus 12 pot calipers
could you please tell me ebc or other brake pads part number or where you get it

thank you

As you may already know Alcon make these calipers for Brabus, they are accordingly contracted by Brabus, so you will only buy these pads from Brabus, at the usual Brabus prices. No where else! I believe they are a modified Porsche pagid pad, quite frankly I am not impressed with them at all, messy as hell, and do they stop, I think I could do better else where.
However Marc L, (not 100% confirmed, but sadly believe no longer with us), who started this thread, did lots of pilot work on this subject, plus loads of other projects underway, and had Carbotec Europe make a bespoke pad to fit these 12 pot calipers, I have a full front and rear set sitting in my office, awaiting fitment when I choose. Marc was very impressed with these pads, as his posts here show.
Down side is they did not make the back plate of the pad to accept the MB brake pad wear sensor. I am not overly bothered with that myself, as my brakes are regularly checked, but could see it would/could be an issue to others in this situation. Carbotec, could do the work for the wear sensor, I spoke with them over this, but need an original pad to tenplate it. If it's a route you choose, contact them, and send an original front and rear to them, they will machine it to fit, and they where very helpful.
Best of luck with it;).

Hello, I am reviving this thread. Sorry to hear about Marc L who started this thread. I have a Brabus K8 2005 W211 station wagon with the brabus big brake kit. I am now looking at how I can replace the brake discs, or rotors, with new. Any tips? I have found some MB GL brake discs that has the same dimensions, could I order and use those? As for the pads, I think i would like to try to go the route with Carbotec, and get the pads that could accept the brake sensors. let me know what you think.

I've not had to replace my Brabus brakes but I was told by a Mercedes main dealer technician (and Brabus enthusiast) that the pads are made by AP.

I cannot verify this but may be worth looking into.

The discs would be made by Alcon Components but being a proprietary product your only way to buy them is from Brabus.

Alternatively, you can have them made by just about any competent CNC shop near you. I bet your hats are in good shape being made out of steel so you only actually need to buy bare discs and re-bolt.

Alcon have a few dealers which you can approach with dimensions of your original discs and bolt pattern.

Ok, so complete discs for some GL Mecedes, with same measurement, will most likely not fit? Of course there are other things to discs rather than diameter and thickness.
