Brabus D6 III, How Long Did Yours Take?

I'll try a few different ways I think, John.

I've just had a thought- if I turn the traction control off, would this make it a bit quicker do we think?

You could always post the question on a MB forum ;) - what's the best way to get off the line in a V6 auto with ESP? :dk:.

It's a whole thread on it's own and I'm sure there would be some interesting replies.

Mine does seem to launch away using the sbc hold and resting foot over the 'go' pedal...

The gearbox seems to delay around 40mph as it's accelerating but it's not much, hard to explain. When you look in the mirrors it's pretty clear it's actually quite quick for a bus. Even Std it's nippy the box just adds a bit more :)

I will try and 'test' mine on a private farm track one day :)

Just to finish this thread, my friend has just called round with his new S350 CDi Bluetec.

I drove both cars and although the S-Class is a big old barge, my estate isn't exactly small. Mine was noticeably quicker through the gears and from a standing start.
Maybe a placebo, but mine also sounded a bit throatier.....

Here's a picture of the two, before their duel;

It will be, it makes more power, is lighter, more areodynamic. Yours will also have less sound deadening.

Take a C350cdi round to yours and you'll be writing that regarding the C class in relation to your own car.

Curious re the 5 vs 7g box comments. Whats the fellas name who posted lots of stats regarding various models on here?

Well, I will cut to the chase. The facelifted C220cdi and C250CDI BE cars with 7g are slower to 60mph than the C220cdi and C250CDI BE cars with 5g boxes.

Says it all really.

Any delay on the S Class Lee?

Joking aside, no delay whatsoever on the gearbox.

I couldn't believe how much improved it was over the S that I had 8 month ago. I know that this one was much much newer, but it did feel a massive leap over the W220.

*Scurries off to look at W221 CDi's*

If it's a "new" new S Class then it has a 258hp engine and 7.1 0-60.

It may also have the 7G+ box and it's improvements over ours.

It is an '11' plate I think.

He paid £55k for it.

You're confusing me a bit there Steve, this original thread was about what difference the Brabus box makes.

His car is last of the 235bhp, so in theory, I had 37bhp more.

Not too sure what the 7G vs 5G has to do with this 'experiment', both of these cars have the 7G?

I'll see if I can grab a few more photos of the S350; it was very swish....

I was commenting merely on the S class comparison to your own car. If you had taken a C class with the same engine as your own car, you'd have found it quicker and noiser. Which is to be expected, its smaller. Conversely the larger S class will not be as quick as your own car, but it will be quieter. Which is what I would expect. Personally I think the E is a good compromise, the S is too large and cumbersome a car.

Developer215s and yours are identical engine wise. Only the 212 and 204 have seen updated 642 V6 CDi engines. Yours are 320cdi's with D6 tuning.

My comment re 5g vs 7g was in relation to a comment of Developer215 where he comments his car off the line feels no quicker than his old 320cdi which was the I6 and 5g. I merely commented that engine for engine, looking at the C class Blue efficiency cars 220cdi and 250cdi that the 7g ones are slower to 60mph than the 5 speed ones, but the engines remain the same. The thread begins W204 and has all the performance stats present.

It would appear from the numbers in the thread 7g does hamper the performance of the car fairly significantly and its a shame, 7g was not confined to the option lists and 5g still standard.

Hi Sweatpea, I had the box fitted to my c320cdi and to be honest i didnt notice the difference straight away, but as long as the little led blinks then its working! I too have removed it like others have mentioned here and believe me you will feel the difference! as to the improvment on mpg , forget it! i get about 1 or 2 mpg more , but the performance is what its all about!!!!!!!!
Give it a while and enjoy what you have , the days of turbo lag are long gone and now one wants to drive a car thats uncontrolable??? ( I brought a ford escort rs turbo ,new years ago and it was terrible to drive, nothing below 2000rpm and after nothing but chaos)

SPX could you tell me how did you recognize after plugging SD to your car that the box is working? Because I have same problem... Installed it and... I'm thinking that it didn't give anything... Time 0-100 (0-60 in UK) goes as it did before.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

I never truly believed it was working properly because it was for a different model so ended up selling it on.

Ouchh... I have exactly for my car :/ here's my thread with problem: BRABUS D6 III
