My car needs new front brake pads and discs and we are having trouble finding a supplier. Can anyone tell me where we can get them from please - we are in the North West of England.
A quick search on Eurocarparts shows quite a selection. You need to measure the diameter of the existing discs before ordering as there are some variations.
Is this a very late registered R107, or an early 129? In either case, it's a 500SL, not the other way round.
R129 will be 300x28 disc from memory, but as above it's imperative to check. Any motor factor or online supplier will be able to provide those, not rare at all.

I'm trying to reply individually, but I think my pc is playing up. It's my local garage who are telling me they can't find the parts. They found some but, as you have said the sizes were different. It's a R129. I will phone them back now. Thanks for replying.
The 320mm discs are slightly more unusual, being left and right handed. However, I would be VERY surprised if they were fitted as standard to a R129 as early as 1989. IIRC they're not on anything pre-93, and then only to cars with ESP up to a later point.
Either way, they're still available from ECP, so not exactly difficult to source! Perhaps time to find a new garage?

Aside from the posts above - I’ve never found Mercedes bad price wise for stuff like brakes. Sure there might be cheaper sources but I’d be surprised if they are that expensive either
This unfortunately seems to be the way with 129 parts now. Over the last 15 years I've watched them go from being held locally at dealers, to held centrally at MK, and now "3-5 days from Germany".
