After about 5 miles or so of driving, I'm getting a judder from the NS rear wheel which sounds as though the wheel is about to come off. Upon inspection the disc is red hot (as in glowing). Once 'hot' it's there all the time, whether driving or braking. I'm all set to buy new discs and pads but wanted to check first in case I'm missing something.

My theory is that the disc is warped and is expanding as it gets hot, hence getting worse once I've driven a few miles.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers guys.

Thank you! Just out of interest, why is it knocking so much? It sounds as though someone is trying to kick their way out of the boot!

Hmmm, you may have another issue that is compounding or even responsible for the problem. perhaps a knackered wheel bearing.

Heat from brakes has melted grease in bearing?

And take care that the (melted, running) grease doesn't end up in contact with the red hot disc and start a fire - wouldn't be the first time...
