Brake Lights Not Working And Asr Abs

Came to drive the car and the 'light out' light came on along with the abs etc light.
I checked the bulbs and they seem fine. It clears when I turn off the engine but comes back on as soon as I press the brake pedal.
To make things more confusing if I press the brake pedal without the engine running it blows the brake light fuse !!!!
Seen threads sugesting its the brake switch but none of them have the break light problem aswell so Im not sure about it.
Would be very greatfull for a solution or possible solution before I have to take it to the stealers.

Blowing a fuse sounds like a short circuit. And the fault light coming on only when you press the brakes is evidence that the brake circuit is involved.
Visually check the brake bulb holders to see if the contacts are bent out of shape and/or show heat damage. If so, replace them.
