Brake lining wear - visit workshop

How long between the first brake wear warning and replacement?
The reason I ask is mine flashed up yesterday but my MOT is due in about six weeks; I do about 200 (mainly motorway) miles per week; will they last or should I replace them immediately?

Two things here
1 you are going to have to get them done before the MOT
2 they should be OK for another 1000 miles but why take chances; they are only getting worse and if you leave it too long then you score the discs; more money for little saving
