Hi there -had mine for 2 weeks and love it but i ve noticed on spirited cross country driving the brakes overheat badly and ultimately fade. Smell like they are on fire afterwards. They simply cannot cool efficiently enough for the performance the rest of the car can generate with all that torque.

Anyone reccommend an upgrade pathway? Can you chuck on the E55 AMG brake set up for example?

Any advice welcomed - apart from slowing down a bit that is!

e55 amg left brake disc - 210 421 18 12
right 210 421 19 12
caliper left 210 421 01 98
right 210 421 02 98

e55 320 cdi
disc left 210 421 22 12
right 210 421 22 12
caliper 001 420 31 83 (left)
001 420 32 83 (right)

steering knuckle (that teh caliper bolts to - e320cdi 210 330 00 20) e55 amg is the same - so the caliper bolts straight on.

dont know what the difference IS though..

incidently - the disc is used on the C42 amg & clk 55...

have you tried using performance brake pads as they can operate
at a high temp before fading?

EBC, Mintex and Pagid all make fast road pads which should resist fade
better than your standard pads.

OK thanks Guys I ll look into those suggestions, sounds as though the AMG is the way to go though!

First check that the calipers are not sticking, the brakes are the same as on the AMG models so there would need to be something wrong if the brakes are cooking.
