My unreliable-starter coupe is worth more dead than alive so gather round and feast on it's flesh...

I'm lazy and sentimental so I'd love to see this going to someone to swap a less temperamental engine into (I have a 102k mile 2.2 engine and 4 speed auto box if anyone wants a project) but I'm a realist too and I know these are just not as well loved as the W123s yet and the 24v M103/M104 ******* engine is pretty unpopular so this will end up stripped to the bones and the shell turned into chinese washing machines. C'est la vie...

The highlights are:
Five speed auto box rebuilt last year, less than a thousand miles since, I have a £900 invoice for the work
Fully functioning electric black leather ortho front seats woth no rips or tears (photos below)
Two fully functioning electric seat controllers, driver's side is the memory-type - I'll confirm the exact part number on request
Two fully functioning seat belt presenters
It's a factory five-speed auto car so has the five speed ECU
OEM 'white' rear light lenses

The engine seems fine because when/if it starts because it runs well and pulls like a train so any parts from that are fair game too.

Photos below, do let me know if you want more detailed shots of anything in particular.

I think the 300-24 M104 is a fantastic engine : I'm currently on my second .

I didn't realise this engine was so well liked until I started getting all the messages here and on the other forum I have this advertised on.

This engine in an R129 must be really nice, not as much of a bruiser as the SL500.

I'm holding off on the breaking for a few days while I see if any of the "I would like to save this car" type messages come to anything.

What have you thrown at it in terms of trying to make it start reliable? I like the 24v engine personally, I had my last 24V coupe written off by someone crashing in to it

That's far to good to break, 300 24v is the best engine imho.

My 300TE-24 was also written off by someone crashing into it - on my driveway !

To the people messaging about parts: I'm getting this moved from my driveway to my workshop at the weekend so I'll start stripping then.

Still keen to see this going to someone as a complete car needing TLC rather than breaking it, though I have had an attractive offer for the seats and the gearbox.
No reasonable offer refused...

There are three unknowns listed (406, 650 and 735) but I know that 650 is the "Sports Chassis with 7" 15-hole alloy wheels and 205/60 tyres" option which gives slightly lowered and stiffened ( approx 30%) suspension with a slightly higher ratio steering box for sharper steering.

As well as the HT leads, dizzy cap, rotor and coil I swapped the fuel pump relay with other running cars, it didn't have any ill effect on the other cars so I ruled that out.
I haven't investigated the EZL box at all and the cam sensor seemed difficult to test because I don't have another 24v car. Well, what I mean is that don't have another M104.980 but I have other M104s and they don't seem to be interchangable.
