We have a W209 CLK500 on 18" AMG rims and sports suspension. It is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza 050 tyres all round.

The ride is extremely harsh...much harsher than my C270 with 17" and sports suspension....we expected a slightly harsher ride on 18" but not this hard....I have heard that Bridgestone Tyres have a very stiff sidewall....would it make a huge difference changing tyres to a different make, if so which make....

I am running Falken FK452 on the rear of my C270 and Contisports on the front (but will change to Falkens all round when they wear) and I am happy with these...would Falkens give a satisfactory ride on 18" rims?

Or would I be better off swapping to 17" rims?

I run Falken FK452s on my clk55 now and they are great. I have had Avon ZZ3s, Goodier F1 Asymmterics and Dunlop SP9000s. The Falkens provide good progressive grip and wear and a reasonable price. The Goodyears only laster 4000 miles on the rear!
