I suspect that I am the last person on the Forum to discover this app - for Apple or Android- but I've used it and it works!
It's also Free, which does not suck either.
INRIX is the app.
It works in 'Real Time' to give your iPad or iOS/Android smartphone the very latest traffic news and suggests a route around the hot spots.
It is incredibly up to date and has been very well reviewed elsewhere.
Most use it for their commute to work, but I used it to get from Wandsworth to the Globe Theatre last night and its Arrival Time was spot on.
I also learnt a niffy new route that I will be using in the future to avoid Clapham High Street (a regular Parking Lot).
Anyway, being free you might want to give it a try?
