Do you need an MoT these days?

I've not had one for years! Just drop my mate £40 and he gives me it about 2 days later, it's much less hassle, no sitting in the pub dowing four quick pints for an hour waiting...... I think i'll have to think about aligning it up with my other mate who stamps my service book for £30 every year, save me all that driving around.
