Bristol cars assets are being sold off due to the company being liquidated. Some interesting things for sale from complete cars, wooden bucks, tools and even the famous neon Bristol cars sign from outside the London hq. Sad times.

Ooooohhhhhh.....,..

All kind of useful miscellaneous Garage kit for those with a need.

Does anyone know what's happened to the Brand name?

I didn't know they had a site in Windlesham, just down the road from me. The sign from there is for sale but requires a Risk Assessment and Method Statement for collection as it's still screwed to the wall :D

So sad .

Were he still alive , I’m sure a certain Leonard John Kensell Setright would have been at the head of the queue for many of these items .

I knew someone who owned a 402 and had runs in it a couple of times - magnificent machine it was .

LJKS: there's a name I haven't seen for a while.

The Bristol Owners' Club claims it is "actively engaged" with the liquidators in order to "preserve what we can of the heritage and associated spares for the marque".

"It's our hope that the assets can be kept together and, as a priority, a safe home can be found for the archive," it said in a statement.

He was a huge proponent of Bristol Cars ( also Citroën and Mercedes-Benz ) , he must be spinning in his grave at this news .

Setright was already on casket fast spin because of Supercars, Shme150, banned Sobranies, SUV's, and Poulter owning 16 Ferraris he doesn't drive.

Some say they too would be fond of Bristols if their first wife had topped herself in one ....

For those interested in these fine cars...

Autocar Bristol 407 road test 1961

I used to buy CAR magazine every month , and started almost everytime with his pages .

One exception was the one with the launch of the W126 , and I drove that actual car featured in the magazine ( reg was something like TLB 10W ) and it was the first RHD car to reach these shores ; little did I dream I would end up owning three of them years later .

Yes , I remember that , ISTR she did that to get back at him .

I’ll never forget marvelling at a Bristol parked outside a posh hotel some 47 years ago and the body was completely wrapped in a velvet type material

I was also a big fan of CAR. I really liked LJKS, although he could be a bit of an acquired taste at times. I also liked Ronald Barker and Steve Cropley too. I loved reading their prose - each article was as much an English lesson as it was about the cars :)

We’ve had a couple of Bristol threads on here over the years so I’ll relate my story again. Please don’t judge.

The father (Mick) of one of my friends was an extremely hard drinking Irish guy who was a rigger in the film business. This is a guy who was a drinking buddy of Richard Harris, Oliver Read etc etc.
He was pissed as a fart one evening while working on a movie in the French countryside when he stupidly decided to drive his Bristol back to the hotel.
Not so long after this the Bristol was in pieces all across the road with an in uprooted tree nearby. Mick walked away without a scratch.

Bristols were good cars. And he replaced it with another one.
