Does anyone know how long a Mercedes take to build on the production line from start to finish. I know models will vary.
The videos on YouTube make it look so quick.
Mine is supposed to go online today.

I've done a search but all I get is a blank white page on my phone.

Maybe they switched production to Oslo??;)

What production / delivery dates did they give you?

ATB

When I did the factory tour at Sindelfingen they said, on average, it was three days: Day 1, body in white; Day 2, paint; Day 3, final assembly.

A tough one to answer as some plants are mostly just assembly lines, whilst others are manufacture and assembly. st13phil's 3 days feels about right to me.
As an aside it takes about 2 years to design the cars and 1 year to make the assembly line. When you add up all the man hours and £ spent, cars don't seem so expensive after all.

Already know my car is built in Germany. Given today as start date for production and delivery to dealership is still 4th Dec.
I was just interested.
st13phil, I was thinking of doing the factory tour. One factory is free and the other charges. I wonder why.

Not true, most plants have Body, Paint and Assembly due to the logistics involved.

Body is usually less than 6 hours from first weld to complete shell.
Paint is more usually 18 to 24 hours allowing for baking/hardening.
Assembly is often 6 to 8 hours depending on line-speed/model content.

Which car/factory?

I have been to most when I worked there.

Sindelfingen then.
There is no "Stuttgart" factory....and Sindelfingen is basically an area if Stuttgart.

Really its about 3 factories on one site. When I was there is did S-Class, E-Class, CLS-Class, C-Class, CLC-Class and Maybach.

Easily the biggest Mercedes car site. Bremen is probably next.

Where I first saw a E63 in early 2006 before they were announced.

I've seen it with my very own eyes through my employment.

You say 'most', which is not 'all' :)

Anyway, it doesn't matter much.

You are correct - not all.

Valmet is one that springs to mind.

Jaguar used to ship bodies from Castle Bromwich to Browns Lane.

Rolls Royce from Germany to the UK

A few of small specialist manufacturers/factories..

But I would say 90% or more of cars build are pressed, welded, painted, assembled and shipped from one factory.

Sorry if it sounded a bit terse.

Mini? Pressed in Swindon, assembled in Oxford

I presume your Dealer has passed on this information, or have you been asking specifically for these details. I ask as my dealer has not been very good at communicating with me. I ordered mine at the end of September and the only times I have had communications with them is when I call them!

I was told when I ordered, that delivery would be end of December/January.
