The strangest thing happened to me yesterday. I am driving down the A2 back from London and I notice the indicator flashing at double speed. So when I get home I decide to investigate (bold move for me as I have trouble changing a plug). After swearing and messing around with the back of the light for about 20 mins, I managed to work out how to get at it. I unscrewed the fitting and gently pulled out the fitting to find that the bulb wasn t in it.
The bulb must have sprung out. So now I am left with a bulb running around inside the top of the lamp but managed to put in a replacement in the fitting.

I think the only way I am going to get it out is taking off the light and making a game of it by trying to make it fall from the hole.

Please could you let me know if the removal of a E class 1998 headlight is a big job? Or if a non tech minded twit (like me) would be able to manage to do it?

Thanks
Ian

How about using a magnet on the end of something flexible?

very easy - they are just bolted/clipped in :)
