Buying a M Class

I always thought the v6 was bomb proof. A good friend is a mechanic for the welsh ambulance service and the mercedes ambulances use the v6 some have more than 400,000 miles on and they have not had many problems with them at all. Considering they have to haul 5 tons and get there teeth kicked in thats not bad imo. Iv not longed joined this site and one thing iv learned is mercedes build quaility is not as good as i thought tho.

First one - new gearbox at 35k
Second one - Port inlet shutoff motor. Followed by oil cooler (in the V - expensive labour). 100,000 miles or so
Third one. - Gearbox valve body replaced, but something was still wrong. I think Turbo. I had enough and got out.... 115,000k

What oil and fuel did you use?

May I just say keep your 210 as it really is a nice car :cool:

Shame you outbid me :D:D

OP started by saying he needed something to tow 3.5 tons. I stand to be corrected but I understand towing capacity of a ML is 3265 kgs ie under 3.5 ton. I recommend doing a reverse search - look at what can legally tow 3.5 ton. You will find choice is limited.

That's interesting as I checked on s number of sources to rule it in or out. Back to the drawing board perhaps.....
