I am looking into buying an early '90s (probably a 1992-1994) 300SL. I have decided that the 300 will be more than enough power and better on fuel etc. than the 500 and I have heard a few things about the head gasket and wiring loom needing expensive replacements.
What should I look out for when inspecting one, any problem areas, things that break or fail, general faults, things to check, things to avoid, things to go for
.
Any information would be brilliant as I have no idea what I am looking at!

Also, any ideas for extra space such as sport steering wheels, different seats (or trim levels), as I am 6 foot 7 inches and any extra leg/head room would be a definite bonus
