Buying C200. Need advice

I have been looking to buy a C200. Am getting an Approved Used 2008 C200 Kompressor SE from Mercedes dealer. However, the accelaration on the car seems to be slow, and the gear changes (automatic) are jerky. I notice a difference from the other cars that I have test driven. The gear changes and accelartion difference is there in both [C]omfrot/ tandard drive modes.

Dealer tells me two reasons not to worry (1) car has just come in, so their garage would go through before handing over and (2) automatic cars adjust to driving habit - previous driver would have liked a slow accelaration, and so not responding quickly to the accelaration/ jerky gear change.

Would appreciate advice on whether I should go ahead with the purchase. Price is better than other 2008 C200 on sale, so its tempting. Or is the price low because there is a bigger problem they are hiding and I would need to keep running to dealer?
Thanks in advace,
Vikis

If you like it then make the purchase subject to satisfactory assessment once it has been thru the workshop. It is possible to reset the gearbox to default/factory setting so ask them to do that before you drive it. It will have a warranty so unlikely to be any major expense lurking.

Hi & welcome to the forum as above but by using kickdown the car should over ride any previous acceleration habits of the previos owner & as far as i'm aware will adapt to all types of driver acceleration differences.Having said that,as the car is less than 3 years old the engine/gearbox problems you've mentioned don't sound noemal to me so i would be inclined to look for another simular car that drives without fault, good luck:thumb:
