Hi,
I´m new to this forum. I´ve never owned any Merc, but W219 really caught up my heart.
After I tried few 320CDIs I decided it will be better to get one of the 500s for my mileage(7000-8000 per year).

Considering two cars around here. The first is 2004 225kW 280k km(no service book, but higher spec-navi, TV, massaging dynamic seats with memory, Keyless-Go, etc.) for 8500eur.

The second is 2007 285kW LPG 390k km(full service history but with lower spec and a bit teared passenger seat) for 6500eur.

Is the newer 5.5l car worth it even it has lower specs? Isn´t 390k km too much for this car? For example 7g tronic. According to seller, there was changed transmission oil after every 50k km and no problems with shifting, but no hardware(conductor, etc.) was ever replaced yet.

Hi CLSer, Like you i'm new to this forum but i have just bought a CLS 500 and imported it to Prague. My car is 2005 model and has very similar specs to the 2004 model you are considering. I would say that it is lovely to have all the toys to play with. They are such a pleasure to drive. If you can upload pictures of that one as well, that will be nice.

Your second one is very similar to one i bought earlier this year but sold to my mate. That one was a BRABUS D6 and my personal opinion is that the petrol powered unit suits this car much better. I haven't driven the more powerful 5.5 litre version so i can't really comment on whether the price is suitable for the power. Based on kit alone, i would go with the pre facelift model in this case but most articles claim the post facelift (2006 onwards) is better and more reliable.

the 5.5 litre 500 engine is a gem, but they tend to attract a higher price (mostly because they are newer)
 
@Baffy3107 Congrats on your new car, hope you enjoy it! The pics of the 2004 car I was talking about you can see here Mercedes CLS 500 za 7.200,00 € - fotky | Autobazár.EU But I´ve had a closer personal look over this car and the condition was not what I expected.

Anyway after I had a trial ride in the 5.5 CLS, I don´t want the 5.0 anymore. The peformance was notably higher, that car was really pushing me into seat under full throttle. Fuel economy was very good too considering almost six litre engine(God I would never think I will buy anything bigger than 3.0 few years ago) and with LPG installed it will run for much less than 320cdi.
