I always thought he was a funny bloke, didn't realise he appreciated Cars more than Art.

He did write for the Evening Standard at one time. That's how I realised he had a passion for cars. I recall also reading an article he wrote about cars or a car and it was very good.
 
I must admit I quite liked the old codger and enjoyed some of his wittier comments. Wasn't aware of his good taste in cars, though.
 
I watched his Grand Tour of Italy, and he was very nearly upstaged by his SEC.

Like many experts, his infectious enthusiasm made people take an interest in things they would normally ignore.

I liked him. RIP sir.
 
Great bloke.... I remember he did a TV programme with Robert Elms about 'Secret Passions' - his was "Demolition Derby" events and they went to Wimbledon Track (I think) complete with burgers with onions off a van.
