C300h loaner as my C250d broke after only 900 miles :(
As some might have read before, I had to reject my C250d Estate after 18 days due to an inch+ of water sitting in the drivers foot well which caused the EML to fault.
After much battling I eventually ordered a new C250d 4matic in Nov with a delivery for Feb/March.
2 weeks ago on the Friday I get an Email from the dealer, yes an Email not a phone call, to say the car is delayed due to the leather dash not being available. It will be delayed until June, but they can't give me a date.
On the following Monday I get a call from MBUK all upbeat telling me that my new car was to be delivered in March. I advised about the email, she said she spoke with the dealer on the Thursday and they advised it will be delivered for March.
Coincidence that MBUK reminded the dealer about a car they should have ordered in November? And that I get an email the next day when they worked out they are unable to deliver?! I think not!

So as of Friday I've had to part company with Mercedes, the loan car has been given back and my deposit is returned (strangely that was a simple process).

Mercedes Ipswich are the WORST dealership I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. Their customer service is dreadful, and basically after the sale and the deposit it all goes downhill. The lies and cover ups I've had to endure during this ordeal are shocking.

Don't get me wrong, I DO like Mercedes cars, and cars go wrong but it's the handling of simple customer service. I DO still like the C class estate, but this has soured the waters for me, so new year, new start!

Thanks for enduring my moaning, and for the advice people gave during the many posts about this.
If anyone wants to buy a nearly new C class Estate Hatchbag, let me know :thumb:

Complete opposite experience buying a new factory order VW for the wife.

Used carwow. Dealer was excellent. Had an online tracker allowing me to confirm build date/shipping info etc. Tracked the car from order to delivery at dealer. The most painless new car purchase I've ever had.

As a general rule, despite loving Mercs, I hate walking into dealers. General attitude is off handish.

What are you getting instead?

Start to finish with Audi polar opposite of Mercedes! Helpful, knew what they were talking about. Hand over was great, drove away happy!
As you said this was pretty painless!

I ordered a cabriolet begining of November and chose the leather dash and it is meant to be delivered at the end of February. I really hope my car is not delayed. If it is, I'll cancel the order, forget about buying a new car and just buy a £1000 shed to get around in.

I ordered a W205 in February 2015 and when it was time for delivery in July, the dealer messed me about. It will be a big disappointment for me if my A205 order is delayed till June.

If you want something that's delivered quickly then order a standard spec common car like a Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Astra. If you want something a bit special you ave to be prepared to wait for it.

I'm not sure I fully understand. You have stated that when your car was ordered in November you were told it would be delivered in February/March, on a Friday in January the dealer told you your new car would be delayed until June, and on the following Monday MBUK told you your car would be delivered in March, and that they had informed the dealer of this on the preceding Thursday.

On the face of it this was a simple mistake on the part of whoever sent the email from the dealer. There's a piece of the jigsaw missing...

What did MBUK say when you told them the dealer had said the car would be delivered in June? What did the dealer say when you told them MBUK had said the car would be delivered in March? When WAS the car due to be delivered, March or June?

Car was due for mid Feb delivery, and 1st March handover.
6th Jan email from dealer stating leather dash not available so delayed until June, but with no confirmed date. It was an estimate based on not knowing when leather dash will be stocked again.
Call from MBUK on 9th Jan, saying they spoke with dealer on 5th Jan and dealer advised her car to be delivered Feb for march handover. She wasn't aware of the 'delay' due to dash availability. She agreed it was a bit of a coincidence this all happened after she chased the dealer on 5th, and that she will ask the dealer to call and confirm. They never called!

20th Jan, game over, loan car returned, deposit given back.

Not sure what your getting at?

Some things never change?

In 1979, I purchased my first ever new car - a Ford Escort 1.6L. It arrived with various snags (quite common in those days) which I persevered with nagging the dealer to put right (even almost resulting in violence, when a snotty service reception oik said "well, it is only an Escort!").

Forward 3 years and I ordered the new Mk3 Escort, waiting the standard 12+ weeks for delivery - inevitably delayed by strikes etc. Hadn't had any updates towards the end of this period (used to get Telex printouts then - remember those - LOL) so rang the dealer. "Sorry sir but it hasn't been manufactured yet - you do realise that the price has now gone up, which as it's not been made, you will have to pay???"

Not so much in the way of consumer protection then - plus I was not so savvy. I told them where to shove it and went and purchased a new Mazda 323 - great little car.

It does amaze me these days though, how bad some MB dealers and MBUK seem to treat some customers.

Fingers crossed, but you should be fine.
From my understanding of the order process, there are two ways to order a new car.
1) Take over and existing order, anything on the existing order can be used or changed, but ordered extras on the existing order are allocated against the car.
2) Create a brand new order. Once order is confirmed extras are allocated.

Now there is of course some room for margins in but this pre-allocation is how to track what items need ordering, and to make sure stock is there. Of course in some circumstances stock does run out.

This is why I believe the car was never ordered in Nov for me, because they would have known that stock was limited back then. But please let me know if they come back to you on the leather dash, but I think you should be safe.

LOL- Yeah I wanted the C43, but was out of my price range, was happy with the C250 I had, was a very nice car to drive, especially with the premium plus pack and driving assistance pack!
I thought about getting a petrol as my car isn't used quite as much as it use to, so looked at the 2.0 TFSI 252ps Quattro, but TBH the S4 had better residuals and was actually cheaper to own :thumb:

Suppose it's the kid inside me, but sitting in the C43, C63, M3, M5, S4 etc and just blipping the throttle puts a smile on my face! :D

I have just received the call I was dreading from yhe dealership. My car has been delayed until May or later due to the shortage of the leather dash.:wallbash:

I have been offered a car from stock which is missing a lot of options I specced in my car and I know I'd never be happy with it.

I am also going to be hit by a massive vehicle tax hike.

Just my luck. This is the 2nd new merc order that has fallen through for me in a year and I think I'll just give up now. Shame though causecI saved the money to treat myself for my 40th and I am now having trouble spending it.

Well I guess coke & hookers will suffice

Personally speaking, I'd keep the leather dash favourite for an S-Class. I'm perfectly happy with the standard trim on the C and E classes - it would apparently save a lot of time on delivery also. Just my opinion after reading about all this.

:thumb: best way

The tax hike is a bit of a killer, but may Merc will off some good will for the delays!
