I know there are many threads about rattles.

I was wondering if any of you have had a rattling noise on your C-Class?
I have a C220 CDI Sport.
The rattling is coming from the left side of the back seat, it only starts rattling at speeds over 30mph and gets worser at higher speeds.

Any advice would be appreciated :).

Thanks

Another issue I have is, I get a annoying tucking noise from my windscreen.
Has anyone had this problem?

For the first noise check that the seatbelt isn't knocking against the plastic trim.

As for the other, are you sure on the location. Quite often the rattle isn't coming from where you think it is. Getting somebody else to dive gives you a chance to investigate.

I have checked the seat belt, I am going to take the car out this weekend with my dad to see if we can find the rattle.
I am going to be taking the car into MB to have it looked at.

Thank you for the advice :thumb:

Mine doesnt rattle, but it's a pre facelift and it's a fantastic car.
Mine doesn't rattle, squeak, "tuck" (what is a 'tucking noise from the windscreen'?) or make any other incongruous intrusion (except when the mother-in-law is in the car!). But it's a facelift and it's even more fantastic :bannana:

Steve, how will you cope if the impossible does by some awful, tragic circumstance occur that your brilliant C class gives you trouble?

Random question....do you have split-folding rear seats? Just wondering if the seat hasn't "clicked" back into place?

Hi

No I do not have spilt folding seats on my car.
Thank you though :)

Hi

My other C220 doesn't rattle but this one does

When I had got the car and reached home, I found that both front pillar covers were broken. I was wondering whether my windscreen was changed. Whoever fitted the windscreen may not have fitted it properly, so every so often I get a weird noise coming from the windscreen. The 'tucking' sound.

I am going to find out what the rear rattle is this weekend.
I might take the car back to MB where I bought it from, cause I would like some answers about the broken pillar covers and the windscreen.

Thank you everyone for all you help, I really appreciate it :)

Hi everyone

I wanted to give you an update on the cars rattles and issues.

I took the car to MB on Saturday and told them about all the issues.
They told me that from what I have told them it sounds like the windscreen was replaced but not by them. Whoever did the job did a crap job.
They said they have to put brand new pillar covers, under bonnet plastic cover and replace the windscreen.
I also found I was having an issue with the wipers, as they would never come on when it was raining (I did have them turned on) I found that whoever had the car previously had changed the wipers and put some cheap quality ones. I got MB to change them and found the wipers working, how they should do when the sensor picks up the rain.
The previous wipers were rubbing the windscreen and leaving marks, which was damaging the windscreen.

I got the car booked in for 5th November, so shall update when all the work has been carried out.

P.s They are also going to find out what the rattling is, which is coming from the back of the car.

Hi,
Sorry to bring up an old post but did they find the cause of the rear seat rattle ? Thanks.

Did you ever get this sorted? My back seat rattles like mad over bumps, it's a 2008 saloon

Try pushing down hard on the base of the rear seat to make sure that it's clicked in properly.

I had the same issue with my facelift C after the dealer had removed the seat base to replace the fuel senders and hadn't refitted the seat properly.

Seat rattle

Ah tried, that. Seat base solid.. Thanks though
