Hi everyone!

I have searched through a fair amount of this forum to no avail with my paticular issue.

I have a 2002 C class Coupe W203 C220 CDI with a panoramic roof.

The issue I have is that the front part of the panoramic roof which lifts up to deflect wind in the front of the car is damaged.
The deflector (part 10 on diagram) has two arms (part 14) on either side which raise it up as the roof is opened.
Each arm has a spring and is secured to the chasis with a piece of plastic that is wedged in the channel.

The right arm plastic is broken and the arm swings up when the roof is opened. This strains the roof when it is opened and then it can not be closed without holding the arm down.

I need to know if I can purchase that small plastic piece again or how to fix it.

I am sorry if this post is not clear enough, please suggest anyways I can clarify my issue.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome from another C220 CDi coupe owner! Sorry but I do not have enough knowledege of this to answer, but I am sure someone will be along soon!

A favour? Is your heater control panel illuminated at all? If so, can you see where the illumination comes from? A pic of it at night would be massively helpful :thumb:

How do you find the car? I'm not hugely in love with it yet - the seats creak more than my bones on a cold morning! Also, does your comfort opening/closing work?

Many thanks

I had a quick look on EPC, have a look and see if part 180 on the PDF diagram is the one you need? If so then ring around dealerships asking for the part number listed in the other PDF

Thank you Dr-Nab,
your attachments have got me a lot further than before!
I have taken some photos to clarify further.

There is a small plastic shape that keeps the arm down on the left handside.

However on the right side it seems to be damaged. I have placed the plastic on the side of the roof in the picture.

This causes the arm to swing up ...

Do you think that the part 180 you mentioned includes the plastic that is broken.

@ Gollom

I will try to get you a pic at night time, its day time at present.
I think its a little stiff in terms of suspension. I have the leather interior and can't say I have really noticed creaking from the seats. Is yours fabric?

Its quirky from my experience so far... Had no power to begin with and it wouldn't rev past 3k when you floored it and my little Toyota 3cyl 1l Aygo could over take it. Turned out to be MAF sensor.
Also had that door lock bouncing issue too which I fixed with the spring kit (It was not as easy as the polish guys on ebay made it sound)

No problem at all, I would have thought it would include it if it is part of the arm but couldn't tell you for certain as I have no experience with the pano roof just thought I'd have a quick look on EPC for you.

Thanks for the response - look forward to the pic! Mine is leather too. No probs with acceleration. In fact it is quite a speedy beast!

Does your comfort close/open work? (point remote against receiver on door handle for a few seconds which should open/close windows etc.)

@ Gollum .. I did not even know the car did this comfort open thing. I think its fairly speedy, but I went for a track day earlier this year and took the sl63 for a spin and it was :bannana: s.
I wish autobox had another gear so that motorways were a bit more fuel efficient...

I called my local Dealer (Croydon) , and he said the part was roughly £65 .
He did not have it in stock but has ordered it for me. He said I could come down and look at the part to make sure it fits the bill tomorrow.
So fingers crossed, again thanks a lot Dr-nab for using your EPC.

I also got a quote for a spare key ... £236

Hi xp2500 or other members who can help

My merc c180k coupe panoramic roof is showing the same problem as mentioned in the initial post. Just wanna ask how much did it cost you (xp2500) to get the part and get it fitted?

Please let me know.

Hi Dr-Nab

I have got the same problem as xp2500. I have a W203 C180K (53reg) coupe. The same problem as xp2500 mentioned. Could you please help me find the parts number? Also, any suggestion where I can get it fixed?

Cheers
Gryphon

I am having this very same issue. All I am missing is the plastic box shaped clip. Does anyone know if these are readily available?

Just had mine go on the L side. The really dumb thing is that the plastic piece cannot be bought separately. You need to buy the entire linkage kit. Here in Canada it's $134 before taxes.

For the L side the part number is 203-780-01-75. Give that to your dealer and I'm sure you'll be able to get the R side part number.

The entire assembly is just held by a small circlip (on the front deflector end) and a single Torx bolt. It's a very simple replacement - just don't lose the circlip during removal. It comes out easily with a small screwdriver.

I tried gluing the broken plastic piece. No dice. The piece needs to be able to slide, so gluing it to the metal bracket doesn't work either.

I have a panoramic roof for sale from a 2002 coupe complete if any good to you £90 collected
Its still attached to the car but can cut it away at the pillers so that the roof is complete.
