Hi all

picking up a 2017 coupe c class tomorrow and already have it booked in for a few cosmetic bits suck as wrap and tints etc.
I was just wondering how much people have paid in the UK on average to have the ‘C220d’ badges removed?

Also, I want to get ambient lights fitted to the inside. Mercedes are not willing to do it, does anyone know if specialists who can fit these kits and have their contact details/websites? The closer to Norwich the better.
Thanks

Harry.

In regard to de-badges you should be able to DIY. Use a heat gun and a fishing line. No clue on cost. I'd expect them to ensure no marks/residue are left and also no scratches to the paintwork. (if i was paying them)

There’s a video on YouTube re ambient lighting. As for badge removal simple diy

I have used dental floss in the past to debadge. No need to pay anyone for that job

If you are getting it wrapped Then they should remove the badges as part of that process.

Simply ask them not to put them back on. It will actually save them time, not add cost.

Either that or ask them to do it if they are wrapping other bits of the car. You will probably find that they will do it for next to nothing as part of your job.

I debadged my C220d myself. I took off the Bluetec badge. I didn’t use floss or any of the other things mentioned like hot water. I just prized the badges off with my fingers. I bought some plastic bladed tool and spent an hour removing the sticky pad residue. Patience and a bit of elbow grease is all you need.

Re the interior illumination, try here

I have no affiliation with this company but I have read good reports in the MB club magazine and they responded to an enquiry promptly and comprehensively.

Comand.co.uk in Lightwater, well worth the trip whatever the distance travelled...

Blimey it's nearly 3k on an S class, think I'll just live with the white standard ambience 😳

virtually all interior trim needs removing if going down OEM route.

Mine only has 3 colours rather than the new 64, if it wasn't such a huge job I'd tackle it myself.

Some floss/fishing line and tar remover takes about 10 minutes. No hot water , heat gun and an hour removing the excess needed.

Bit of heat and tar and glue remover for the badging

You could have your wife reverse it into a skip where the edge of the boot lid needs repaired and painted. They had to remove the original factory badges. Only cost me £300 at the approved bodyshop at Mercedes Edinburgh, blo0dy bargain.......wanted £50 to apply new ones.

Sorry Tom , it was £50 for new badges, they were going to put them on for free. I didn’t bother....

Ahh right. I bought a genuine AMG badge for £18. The S350 badge was £2.50 but is as good as genuine item.
