£25!!!! for a tiny spring! He is cashing in... I think a lock is £50-60, for that price I wouldnt bother messing but yes it is simply a tiny spring that breaks.

I've got this job to do on my Mum's 211.

Is the answer still to replace the lock or is there an alternative?

You can always remove the rubber cone. Its free and a handy fix
