Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of help please with my 2016 C 220 estate AMG line premium plus.
The rear passenger side of the rear seats does not fold. Its operated by an electric switch which works fine on the drivers side of the seat but there is no solenoid click when i try the passenger side. I've tried operating it from the switch at the rear door pillar and also in the boot but neither has any effect on it.
Ive went through the fuse diagrams but cant seem to find a fuse for this feature. Would anyone have any idea as to where the fuse is or if they have come across this previously?

I hate to read a post with no answers,so much for the experts on here ha

I have the exact same issue on my convertible right now

I called Mercedes, they dont have a clue but offered me to book it in to be charged an hourly rate till then find the problem

I am a hands on kind of person and if theres a way to fix it I will do it myself, but I have searched the net and only came across your post with no answers, did you get yours fixed and what was the problem, would save me ripping the car apart trying ro find the prob if its a simple fix
Tia

Hi Rangy,
Not sorted yet. It will be one of those jobs that i probably wont start until after i'm stuck and need the seat to fold. I feel that it is an electrical fault so if i get a chance, might swap over the switches from passenger side to drivers side and see if that has any effect on it.

Hi gents, no expert, but if you can get to the back of any of the switches, see if power is getting there, that's a good start. If there's power, it's most likely to be a motor failure, no power, then a break in the circuit (fuse). It could be that the seats are on the same source as something else, has anything else stopped working? Heated seats or anything?

Or, if it's accessible, get to the motor terminals and see if there's power there. If so, then most likely the motor. All the switch should do is change the voltage direction to turn the motor a different way

Hi thanks for your answers

I tried swapping the switches over, no fail on them, there is power going through,I have a click on the right side when used, which releases, but no click on the left passenger side, according to mercedes its not a fuse as both would fail running on the same fuse?
I will give it a go today and see how i get on,if any joy I will not forget to update :)

That's quite possible, they may well be on the same circuit. That points to a fail after the switch down to the motor. If you have swapped the switches over, then that eliminates them. My bet is the seat motor. If it had jammed, there would still be a click and humm as it tried to work. if there's nothing, it's failed completely or it's become disconnected somehow. If the car is under warranty, they should swap it out.

If you can get to the back of the motor, check the connectors, connect a voltmeter and then apply power and move the switch. If power is getting there, it should go from positive volts to negative volts and listen to the motor. If there's a hum, it's seized (used to happen to 75's sunblind motors when the magnetic strip broke). If there's nothing, it's dead and needs replacing.

@rangy
Have exactly the same problem on my 2018 C43 convertible too..... passenger side not working but drivers side does.... have the added complication that the boot separator will not work via the boot lid switch, yet the switch is illuminated so assume is powered. Not sure if related. Have you managed to find a solution to the seat fold issue before I go having a go? TIA

on my 2017 A205 the boot separator only works powered one way (down) you have to push it into the up position using your hands. Could yours be same/similar?

Not sure tbh … had the vehicle since august and the separator switch, whilst illuminated, hasn’t functioned….like the back seat release switch. Have been opening/closing the separator manually but it is very stiff suggesting it has resistance from a motor function to me. Not sure if it should work to open and close or just close like yours if truth be told 🤔 hopefully someone can come along and advise us both.

Wasn’t clear enough hic! On my car it is designed that way. Illuminated switch on lid, press it and the separator deploys down; to retract you must push it uk manually as the motor will not retract the separator.

Will give that a try thanks

Hi
Our C220 Estate is not releasing back seat from the boot on passengers side. There’s no clicking sound.
I did drop the Centre back seat this week to bring home some garden canes.
Was working before.
Is working from the read door button.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you mean when you push the button on the back of the seat there is little resistance ? does the red locking pin stay up or down ?

I have first hand experience of this ...and its not fun to fix .

I had same issue with passenger side not folding. Until I realised kids had buckled in the centre seat belt. Once I undid that seats folded again! Doh

Check wiring through door hinge for continuity?
