I have a 2001 C Class and I have just purchased a private number plate, however I cannot get the rear plate screws off. The top ones came off no problem, however the bottom two will just not move. I sprayed some WD40 on them and one of them started moving but it does not unscrew, it just keeps going round and round. The other one still will not move and now the screw head is starting to give way. Help!

Drill them out. Preferably with a hand drill.

I had the same problem. I had to remove the boot lining to get at the screw that holds the number plate surround section of the boot lid in place, when undun the plastic section can be prized from the boot lid, then youvan get at the back of the captive nuts for the number plate and with a bit of fiddling you can get molegripps on the nut to hold it in place.

they are known for corroding in place. I had a nightmare with changing plates on mine. In the end I got the grinder out.

I had the same problem,
bloody nightmare had to get the old hacksaw out.

Screws

I have always replaced the original screws with acid-proof ( not stainless )ones available in boat shops. They also have white plastic covers for screws, which fit perfectly to our white plates.
