C class rear brakes

ECO display? I don't have one of those, but there isn't much economy with a CL500, economy is not so important as performance, I keep it in S mode as I want a V8 to be responsive as it should be, Distronic is a great idea but it's not fitted to mine, normal CC is fine for me as I prefer to be in control.

Buy a Ford if you cant afford a merc i was told.

It keeps you a set distance from the car in front, if he slows or stops you will too. Once the road is clear it will accelerate back up to the speed you have set. All you do is steer.
I can certainly feel my E class apply the brakes on descents when using Cruise control.

There are separate hydraulic circuits for each brake so it is perfectly feasible to operate braking circuits independently via electronically controlled valves as in ABS

There is always the chance the garage needed a bit more work that week and you looked like the person to up his wages, just a thought. I bought an e class e320 estate and had a so called merc specialist check it over for me when i bought it. I told him i had just bought it and wanted everything checked even an oil change. when i went back he told me the turbo inlet port motor (i think thats what it was) was about to give out a know fault from an oil rubber on the turbo never fitting properly. he said take out this warranty with me leave it a couple of weeks and i can claim on it and fix it for you, the warranty was about £300. the price to get it fixed was about £650 as its deep in the engine. I went mad at the dealer i had just bought it from he said what lights have you got on the dash, I reply none i told him what happened and he said rightly, he put it 'he's pulling your pants down and .....'' I never had it done and never went there again, i had that car 8 years and it always ran perfect i serviced it myself after that except 1 year i started to change the oil and taking off the floorpan came over all dizzy and thought you know what i am too old for all this now get someone else to do it for me, i took it to another so called merc specialist telling him he will get all my work from now on, i gave him the merc oil and filter and pan to put back on, he charge me £110 this was about 3 years ago for the privilage of doing it even though i had given him the stuff, so the next year i feel ok i will do it myself and, when i took the filter out he put a crap cheap filter in not the merc one i gave him so i have no doubt if he nicked my merc filter he certainly didn't put my merc oil in. I have found someone now in the last two years i can trust and i know there is some on here that are excellent and come highly recommended, but this is just a warning that there are some snakes out there.

I have a 2016 c220d and back in August was told by the Mercedes Garage who do the services that the rear discs and pads were low and needed changing. I declined. Spending £200+ wasn't on my list of things to do that day. 4 months later I took it to a reputable independent for it's MOT, 'Can you check the rear brakes please?' I asked. They did and pronounced that there was a good year left on them.

Yes, the rears wear faster than the fronts on these cars (see all the above reasons) but generally don't wear quite as fast as Mercedes would have you believe... there's a brake wear sensor for a reason. I'd leave it till that comes on and then get a good indie to replace.

If you change it from above using a suction pump you will be able to do at any age you can still walk. It's really that easy.

What sort of mileage were they at the MOT and have you changed the fronts yet ?
Still can’t believe the rears wear faster than the fronts, people must go down lots of steep hills in cruise !

25k miles at service and 28k at MOT.

Only had the car a year, but fronts seem fine... That said the fronts are way bigger, so with the rears being smaller circumference and possibly thinner I suspect that's part of the reason.
